Who

Teeluxe brings together some friends who like to make stuff. They print it, read it, ride it, wear it and sometimes sell it.

Contributors and suppliers to Teeluxe include…

Joseph Allen/Izrock Pressings
Always fascinated by the phrase Mixed Business used by many Sydney convenience stores, Joseph Allen adopted this phrase as an umbrella term for his unrestricted commercial art making. IzRock Mixed Business became a convenience (or possible inconvenience) store for general art tom foolery and in 2008 extended to include Izrock Pressings. Izrock Pressings is a platform for small run, independently published artist books and zines. Community minded and action focused Izrock’s books try and get the artwork direct to the audience in a tactile, handmade, personal medium. We like the internet too, just not as much as ink.

Seems Books
Seems is an independent publisher of small run art books based in San Francisco. Our goal is to make original art accessible to everyone. We create books that start dialog and conversation, with a high priority placed on quality and content. We publish a hybrid of zine’s and a monograph’s, with each book in a solo show format; one artist with a free reign throughout. The name Seems comes from the idea that art and design are not black and white, but gray; there is no absolute; therefore they demand dialog and debate. Seems has also participated in book exhibitions in South Africa, Italy, Canada, New York, and San Francisco.

Jones Motif
Surfer/artist type dude, pokes his head in at teeluxe from time to time…. is known to leave all his gear at home when heading for a surf, “getting some shade under the water tarp” with nothing but a pair of flippers…. but when it comes down to it he just loves to draw.

Net Prophets – our web guys
(Wes at Net Prophets built this site for us, he knows his shit.)

‘Worshipers of Excellence and Slaves to Perfection. We admit it. We can’t help ourselves. We are unashamedly, unabashedly, unapologetically total perfectionists. Beauty in design is a standard we won’t compromise. Applying good design during the site build, is vital to portraying subconscious messages that words could never say.

Sprout/Thomas Campbell
Thanks for this Thomas… ‘hello peoples, this is scribble via t.moetucker… this collection of shirts to cover your skinny or largeish frames is kind of in general about the surf movies the seedling and sprout and the doodles are by friends of mine that are pretty dang good at the doodle game. The idea behind these shirts and the movies they represent is simple leave all the poop behind and go slide a few and think about how damn lucky you are to be in the ocean, watching green backlit beauties roll by — life is short — slide your brains out.’

    Draw

Good friend of Teeluxe, Stefan Marx is in a group show at the Monster Children Gallery (Sydney) with the amazing Marcus Oakley and French.

    Opens Thursday , 6pm 19 August 2010.

About the Show: Three similarly different drawing styles meet in Draw with French, Stefan Marx and Marcus Oakley at Monster Children Gallery. Collectively, their work conjures earlier established themes and imagery mined from a myriad of sources. Interestingly, musical tastes come through in each of the artists work. Each has their own specific way of presenting this in their work. Whether it’s a portrait of a folk musician, a scrawled lyric from a favourite song, or a goat’s head.
